CHANGING INDUSTRY STANDARDS: VIOLA DAVIS DITCHES THE WIGS FOR NATURAL HAIR.

Famous, African American celebrities typically modified their appearance, for the acceptance and approval of those in the industry. Industry standards are dictated and dominated by blondes or brunettes, straight hair, or the occasional red head. Not many respected African American celebs step foot in the public eye with their natural hair, especially if it's of a kinkier texture like Oscar nominee, Viola Davis. Listening to the reactions to one of Viola's first public appearances with her natural hair, the buzz was synonymous. She looked radiant, glamourous  and  a million times better than her typical grandma wigs, that looked far from customized. Although natural hair is far from being a new trend, Viola transcended all of the Beyonce-ish looks that most Black women actresses choose. Big-ups for Viola accepting, and embracing her black beauty. The Academy Awards is her coming-out party, and a new public acceptance to black women and THEIR beauty. Lets see who the next natural celeb will be?
Oh, and before I forget, wasn't she working that green Vera Wang gown? WUURRRRRKK

PRODUCT JUNKIES MEET CURLBOX

Now there is no need to run to Wal-Mart, or the beauty supply store, your products can now come directly to your home. Subscription based shopping is a new way to indulge in the things you love most. Pomades, conditioners, serums are all things I love to experiment with. Having tight coils and kinks myself, I'm giddy at the thought of discovering products just by opening my mailbox. Kudos to the founder. With all the excitement of natural hair, and curl acceptance, I'm sure a subscription to CurlBox will be a "must try" to many hair care enthusiasts.

CAROL'S DAUGHTER TRANSITION ME BEAUTIFUL CONTEST

If this contest isn't some incentive to go natural, I don't know what is. When I went natural, I surely couldn't win price let alone have an all expense paid pamper session. "Times sure have changed."

IN REVIEW: BEAUTIFUL TEXTURES

UPS knocks on my door! The package indicated that it was from CurlMart. "YAY ME"  my inner product junkie squeals. First impression after opening, smelling, scanning the ingredients lists, "this stuff seems pretty good". While the packaging is sure not to be overlooked because of it's loud color scheme, the ingredients and product claims makes this haircare line a contender for naturally curly hair enthusiasts' cabinets.

WILLOW SMITH'S NEW SHAVED HEAD!!!!

Willow Smith's latest hairdo, recently surfaced! She's bald! Well, not completely. This young lady is fearless, not because she doesn't have mid-back length hair, but she dances to the beat of her own drummer. She's an inspiration and role model for her peers and young people all over the world, whether she knows it or not. Although her  famous families' demographic will keep her protected from the "typical" ignorance, and taunting that would be allowed in a traditional public schools, she's the example of a confident, self assured, creative child, that has been nurtured and she is blossoming. Can't wait to see this "fireball of the party" does next.

I'M CHANNELING MY INNER DIANA ROSS

This this is some big ass hair! Best Lace Wigs has a full lace wig that channels Diana Ross and all her fabulousness. I feel like putting on a dress and my heels with this big and exotic hair. I never really understood the fascination and appeal that silkier hair textures have on black women. To each their own! Show you right!

BLOW DRYING NATURALLY CURLY HAIR STRAIGHT WITH GREASE

I came across this blow drying tutorial and was fascinated by the use of Blue Magic Castor Oil grease . I would never think to use grease to blow dry the hair. I always consider grease to be a heavy product, that will weight the hair down. It may have something to do with the amount of product you use. Like I always say, "results don't lie" and her hair turned out absolutely beautiful. Now I don't know how this would work on  kinkier hair, so I will first try and blow-dry my hair with a serum . Have you tried this method before?

CHOLESTEROL FOR YOUR HAIR, NOT YOUR HEALTH.

I've been having a love affair with thick heavy cholesterol creams for my hair.  Cholesterol conditioners have all the characteristics that I like . Cholesterols are thicker than most rinse out conditioners. They add weight to my coils, coating my hair making detangling easier for me and less stressful on my strands 4a, 4b cooly strands. They are super cost efficient, costing less than $4 for 20 oz.  In a recent post I used the Le Kair Shea Butter Cholesterol and with fabulous results. Leaving it in is also making styling my thick kinky hair easy. One thing that is important when leaving conditioners in my hair is I do a final rinse to remove excess conditioner especially on the scalp. This reduces that nasty and dreadful WHITE STUFF. You know they stuff people SEE but don't SAY anything about .

WET NATURAL HAIR BUN

I can see that keeping my hair protected under my wigs has retained a good amount of length. I took a small break form the wigs, before another batch of lace front wig reviews on my youtube channel. I've played around with leaving conditioner in, then applying a moisturizer and gel . Below are pictures of freshly washed and conditioned hair. Lustrasilks Olive Oil Cholesterol was left in . Eco -Styler Clear gel was used for slicking my hair down. With a scarf for 30 minutes or more, my hair is extremely smooth. I find that for my hair type, slicking my wet hair is much easier than on dry hair and yields better results.

GUESS WHAT!? YOUR HAIR "TYPE" IS DRY!

Photobucket
The sooner that people start to classify their own hair type accordingly, the sooner the learning curve for their own hair will be shortened. Many times hair texture is used to describe the hair. The different types of hair is classified by the moisture content present. I don't bother with hair products for "curly" hair because I find it more beneficial to find products geared towards "dry & damaged hair" Why? My hair isn't damaged! But my hair is  fa sho,  dry. My hair will always be dry because of the nature and structure of it. You can't correct dry hair, only manage it properly with proper care and products that help with moisture retention, and conditioning.
