GUESS WHAT!? YOUR HAIR "TYPE" IS DRY!

Photobucket
The sooner that people start to classify their own hair type accordingly, the sooner the learning curve for their own hair will be shortened. Many times hair texture is used to describe the hair. The different types of hair is classified by the moisture content present. I don't bother with hair products for "curly" hair because I find it more beneficial to find products geared towards "dry & damaged hair" Why? My hair isn't damaged! But my hair is  fa sho,  dry. My hair will always be dry because of the nature and structure of it. You can't correct dry hair, only manage it properly with proper care and products that help with moisture retention, and conditioning.

  3. I think this is a great way to think regarding the importance of maintenance to our hair however, I also think that the hair typing system has its place when we think about how to manipulate or style our hair. For instance, co-washing, detangling, choice of light conditioners vs. heavy pomades react differently depending on our hair type. I think both ways of thinking has its value.

  5. I'm with you AE on using Shea butter for my body, it does nothing for my hair. Hair typing is more of someone else's ideals putting pressure on us to live up to. Do you and love you while you do it ;) Hope you see success with your focus on your blog... trust i know cuz i'm working to stay ahead of the game too.

  6. I really can't get into the numbering hair type system because my hair consists of different types. If the focus is put on the characteristics of the hair and not actually the "number" then I would agree that many would become better at caring for their hair instead of trying to do every and anything that others are doing.

AE...loving your new blog. As always....keeping it REAL!!

  7. @The Thrifty Chick I just treat my hair for what is dry, nothing about my texture besides styling like @CandidAnn mentioned is considered when I buy products. The dry characteristic is what I look to help manage. If it says MOISTURE, CONDITIONING Im all over it .
