NATURAL HAIR CHILDREN AND THE PERFECT HAIRSTYLE

Two - strand twists are one of the easiest styles for small children with natural hair in my opinion. You can style them as you see fit from day to day. Size does matter when looking at the longevity of the style and the style options. I opt for small to medium size twists for my daughter, who has  turned 11years old today.  :O)   I moisturize and co wash her hair per our regular routine. Cutting bangs in the front just adds a little something cute for those ponytail days, she can wear her bangs if she wants to. Here are a few pictures of my daughter's from several months ago. We don't use much heat on her hair, but as she ages she requests more blowout styles to show her length .

How do you style you young daughter or son's natural hair?

  1. my son has a haircut that I do when it's needed. I don't have any daughters. I do have a granddaughter when she's over I styles her hair in cornrows, and ponytails. I've found the Ms. Celie braids to be good for her hair too.

  2. @ShaMaeL have you tried "rope twists" they seem to last a little longer with my hair. There are several youtube tutorials on them. I think of them as 2strand twists with an extra step.

  4. @ShaMaeL. I was going to suggest the braid then twist method. @Callie751 left a good suggestion. What about flat twists? Is the hair fine and loose, or tight and coarse?

  5. Since I've become natural I love practicing two strand twist in my 5 year old daughters hair. I also like doing braids but I usally make it too tight so I steer clear. My 12 year old on the other hand is relaxed. I've been trying to convince her to transition but since shes a middle schooler its a little more difficult to sway her from her opinion.

  7. I mostly put twists in my 11 year old daughter's hair. She loves to try new styles because she models and competes in pageants, so I try to change it up a bit when we have more time to play and on those occasions when the twists won't do.

  8. Happy Birthday to little AE!!!!! lol And yes 2 strand twists are awesome. I just did my first mini set that I will actually keep in for a few days (they were so short before that I would take them out for twists out now I'm hopeful with the little bitty length I do have (7 inches)
