DRUGSTORE FOUNDATIONS FOR DARKER SKIN

I've always gotten compliments on my near flawless skin, however hyper pigmentation is something that just about ever woman of color suffers from. Discoloration and unevenness is easily remedied with most foundations and or concealor. Popular brands that are easily accessible, like Maybelline, Revlon and others typically act like women of color fall into two to three shades. I photographed myself wearing each foundation. Maybelline FIT is my latest purchase and I think requires the most "work".

This is very yellow based. Light to medium  buildable coverage.
Gives a dewy finish, and with a light coverage didn't look to ghostly. It's not a favorite, but its not totally useless.
Has a red undertone. Buildable.

MY PERFECT SHADE.

  3. I actually like the first one the best, it's the most natural and appears to match you perfectly. And you are SO right about women of color coming in more then 3 shades, our skin tones are the widest range of any other race so it floors me when makeup companies act like we only need 2 or 3 color choices. Bobbi Brown also has a great range of foundations they're the only line I've found that fits me perfectly. The line is expensive but the foundation lasts for half a year.

    1. doesn't it trip u out how they for some reason believe that they need 20 different shades of peach colored foundation, but only 3 shades of brown?
when was the last time u saw a group of white women with skin more than 3 shades difference?!
      smh.

  5. I have always been a faithful MAC (NW45) user when it comes to foundations. But today, I took a trip to Ulta and purchased both Maybelline products because, IMO they look best on you. Let me say...they look best on my complexion too. I have darkness under my eyes so I may have to use concealer, but other than that they are both winners. Thanks soooo much for this. Now I can get off the $25 foundation train!!!!

  7. I only wear Mary Kay foundation now, but if I run out n have to wear a drugstore foundation till it comes in..it has to b somethin from Mayelline. I use the dream matte moose in dark 3. Im lucky tht the 3 fits me well because they surely don't give you alot to choose from. Mary Kay has so many different colors to pick from..from the fairest of the fair to the deepest of ebony brown..thts what i love about MK they don't put us in a box. Plus it last forever because a little goes a very long way..the coverage is awesome and very buildable. Visit my official MK website www.marykay.com/laquintae to see all of the beautiful shades offered for all different skin types and skin tones!!

  9. When I walk into the drugstore to find foundation, I always get discouraged and leave. I have only worn Mary Kay foundation, but thanks to you...I'm running to the drug store today. What Brand and shade of lipstick are you wearing in the pics?
